Whatever you think about hunting and trapping, no one wants to think about their dog being accidentally injured in the woods.

And honestly, most people don’t like to think about it, any Dog is accidentally injured.

However, this person’s neighbor didn’t really care.

Read the details below!

I live in a fairly rural part of the world. There is a lot of logging, hunting, trapping and mining going on in my area and I honestly don’t have a problem with it.

I work in a field related to this type of industrial work.

However, I have worked hard to live far away from other people’s nonsense so that I don’t have to deal with such things, but of course my neighbor changed that.

I moved into my own home about 2 years ago, in early summer.

His dog got into trouble.

I always wanted to live here and it was perfect until halfway through my first winter here.

While we were working outside, my younger dog ran off into the woods (which is not unusual for her, she loves to explore), but right after we started searching for her, we heard the sounds of an animal in distress not far from us.

We went to find the source of the noise as quickly as possible. There we found our dog in a wolf snare. She only survived because she had put not only her head but also her leg through the snare.

So her leg protected her throat from complete strangulation.

We were able to free her and she recovered quickly.

His neighbor refused to set the traps further away, and they cared deeply about their dog.

As it turns out, I know the guy who put up the traps. He’s my neighbor. When I talked to him about it, he refused to take them down (even though they’re very close to the property line).

Now for context: I (24 years old) and my girlfriend (23 years old) love this dog so much, she is the sweetest puppy and she has been through a lot (medical issues and injuries), she is a huge part of our world.

My girlfriend would be devastated if something were to happen to her.

Then it happened again.

The dog was fine for another year until today. I was at work when I got a call from my brother.

The same dog had gone exploring while he and my friend were working outside. They heard her making sounds of fear from not too far away and immediately rushed to her.

They found her again in a wolf trap that the same guy had set in the same place.

For context, this guy never told us where or when he sets his traps. But they are located on a trail near my house where people walk and ski, often with dogs.

These traps are baited with meat to attract wolves, so it is clear that they will also attract dogs.

My brother and my girlfriend, with the help of my mother, were able to free them just before I got there from work.

The neighbor obviously didn’t care and took matters into his own hands.

On the way out of the forest they also met the owner of the trap. When they confronted him, he just said that our dogs shouldn’t be so stupid and that it was his trap line.

We told him if he didn’t take down the traps, we would.

He just replied, “Oh, okay,” and left.

Our dog is fine and since his traps are so close to our property, we reported him to the authorities but have not heard anything yet.

Therefore, my family and I have decided as a group that if they want to threaten our safety and freedom and that of our loyal dogs, we will take matters into our own hands.

Starting this week, we’re going to go up there every day and trigger each trap by hand so they don’t get caught at all.

Don’t get me wrong, I have a lot of respect for hunters and trappers, but not when they are irresponsible and basically trapping in other people’s backyards.

I will make sure you never catch another wolf or anything else near my house, you asshole.

Don’t mess with my dogs.

I don’t understand country life, so it’s difficult for me to make a decision.

And Reddit is surprisingly divided!

They say he needs to take better care of his dog.

There is no improvement in sight.

I mean, to each his own.

But you have to feel sorry for the dog!
