In a detailed post, the user wrote, “Today, when I was buying pineapple from an ISRO store, the seller was a North Indian and we were conversing in Hindi. As I was about to leave, a lady asked him the price of the pineapple and he said ’40 ka ek’ and ‘100 ka 3’. She said she could not hear anything and then he repeated it 4-5 times, this time with hand gestures, to which the lady replied that she did not understand anything this time.”
The user claimed that the woman later harshly criticised the seller for not knowing Kannada. “I intervened and told her in Kannada, after which she started abusing the seller and told him to learn Kannada. He got a little scared and replied that he was new here and had only been here for a week and would learn it soon,” the user added.

In the comments, people said that they had witnessed such situations even in Bengaluru. One user wrote in a comment, “Nowadays, everyone in Bangalore is becoming callous. What can a poor vendor do? They don’t have the means to learn a new language. At least the privileged North Indians can. It looks like typical, presumptuous, upper-class behavior.”
