It’s okay to have teenagers as neighbors, but sometimes these young souls go a bit overboard!

And the worst thing? They don’t admit their mistake!

Find out how this girl’s teenage neighbors made working life difficult.

So I live in a small apartment complex. My closest neighbors are a group of college students. There’s nothing wrong with that.

I don’t know her well, but we are always polite to each other. This problem has only recently arisen.

They started making a lot of noise…

For some reason, this group (and a few other friends) decided to hang out in the hallway outside my apartment.

Literally just hanging out and talking. Things they could be doing in their own space.

I work from home and meetings are a nightmare. I can hear them in the hallway, as can my colleagues.

She agreed to it…

They’re college students, so some of their discussions aren’t exactly office-appropriate.

There’s nothing wrong with that, I’m not a prudish person, but that’s not how you talk in the workplace.

Yesterday I was particularly annoyed when they were particularly loud during an important meeting with my boss.

I went into the hallway and just politely asked them if they could please hang out somewhere else.

I explained my home office situation and said I could hear them.

Things didn’t go well.

They took it badly.

They started telling me that they also live here and can stay wherever they want in the building.

One of my friends (who is not mine) called me mean and told me to improve the soundproofing.

One of them commented that working from home isn’t a “real job,” which is a strong implication considering none of them work during the summer.

The costs are borne by the parents.

However, her mother surprised her.

I think my opinion was justified, but surprisingly my mother agreed with the neighbors’ opinion.

She insists that they also live there and have a right to the hallway.

So, AITA? I’m at my wits’ end.

Oops! You don’t want to mess with teenagers these days!

But is the mother right in this situation?

Oops! That’s a lot of negative comments for the kids. They clearly need to start using the space they actually paid for!
