Democratic Vice Presidential Candidate Tim Walz came under fire on Thursday after joking with the Vice President Kamala Harris about the food for “white men” in Minnesota that is not seasoned.
During a conversation between Walz and Harris posted on YouTube on Thursday, Walz told Harris, “I have tacos for white people.”
“What do you mean? Like mayonnaise and tuna?” Harris asked, to which Walz replied, “Pretty much ground beef and cheese.”
After Harris said, “That’s OK. Are you adding anything?” Walz remarked, “Uh, no. That’s the way it is. No, they said to be careful and tell her that black pepper is the best seasoning in Minnesota, you know?”
The remark quickly sparked a backlash on social media among conservatives and Minnesotans.
A 60-year-old man who self-deprecatingly refers to his “white” taste is so embarrassing he might as well roll over onto his back and expose his stomach. https://t.co/ErjuK47y2b

He uses every stereotype of “whiteness” in a sweet way to ingratiate himself with the cause of diversity
I just do the white boy shuffle, the shmuck & jive, the schlepp n’ fetchit https://t.co/91WL7hboFX

oh haha I get it, it’s funny because white people can’t spice their food and don’t like spicy things. Good thing Kamala is bringing some *spice* to white people and the White House ha ha https://t.co/FJbhpSLUN2

“This is not nice. Walz is being used as a clown to mock white people,” protested the Fox News columnist David Marcus“If Walz doesn’t like spicy food, that’s fine, but that has nothing to do with the fact that he’s a white man.”

Walz was chosen to play the idiotic, docile sitcom dad, with Kamala as the sassy wife. https://t.co/zzs2hpn0fv

“I really like Tim Walz, but as someone who also likes to cook with flavor, I have to tell you that black pepper is far from the best spice in Minnesota,” said the journalist and Minnesotan Brian Sheawhile conservative radio presenter Larry O’Connor tweeted: “It’s like a minstrel show poking fun at Midwestern white stereotypes.”

Several critics pointed out that Walz won a recipe contest in 2016 for a taco dish containing peppers and chili powder and asked why the Minnesota governor was “lying when he said Minnesotans don’t season their food.”
Oh my goodness. I had a hunch, I thought. Hmmm, I wonder if Tim Walz is lying when he says people in Minnesota don’t season their food.

It’s weird to lie about it, but for the man who lied about driving while drunk, lied about retiring as a Command Sergeant Major, lied about carrying weapons in war, and gleefully promoted and advertised books and articles falsely claiming he was a war veteran, lying just comes naturally. https://t.co/S2TaGsynvr pic.twitter.com/KlnQJbSjso

In the conversation posted on YouTube on Thursday, Harris also boasted, “I think I’m the first vice president to ever grow chili peppers,” to which Walz replied, “I’m trying to expand my knowledge of food.”
“You know what, we have some melons. You’ll be fine,” Harris replied.
Contrary to Walz’s claims that Minnesotans are avoiding Spice, the senator says: Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) was once observed by a Mediaite editor eating a jalapeño.
See above about Kamala Harris.
