Jae Tips’ much-lauded series of collaborations with Saucony will check off the next item on his to-do list with the release of three sneakers in just over a week.
The Jae Tips x Saucony “To Do List” collection will debut in New York City with a ProGrid Omni 9 in a new but familiar color palette, as well as two versions of the Shadow 6000, which will be the partners’ first release for kids. In a campaign video on Thursday, the 2023 FN Achievement Award-winning designer announced that the long-announced sneakers will release in NYC on August 23.
Much like his previous efforts with Saucony, Jae Tips’ ProGrid Omni 9 is a bright, multi-colored affair that features messages in the form of text. Shades of brown, pink, purple, green, and blue adorn the sneaker, which also features a colorless, translucent mesh sidewall. A lateral heel panel features the word “Savior” in a bulbous font that seems to be straight out of the ’70s, a departure from the cursive the designer has used before.
Prior to the announcement, Jae Tips had teased a second colorway for the ProGrid Omni 9. This variant does not appear in the promo clip, suggesting that it will not be part of the NYC event or at least will be excluded from the NYC drop.
The two Shadow 6000s in kids’ sizes complement the two versions of the adult sneaker shown off by Jae Tips, albeit with simpler color blocking and the word “Savior” moved just below the side collar. Both appear in the spot shared on Instagram and Twitter/X.
Jae Tips and Saucony won Collaboration of the Year for their Grid Azura “Remember Who Fronted,” which debuted in May 2023 as their partnership debut. Then, toward the end of the year, three colorways of the Grid Shadow 2 arrived for the “What’s the Ocassion?” capsule. Another upcoming collaboration will bring back the Matrix sneaker from 2000, Saucony confirmed in an exclusive Footwear News report.
The Jae Tips x Saucony “To Do List” ProGrid Omni 9 and Shadow 6000 have a date and a city: August 23 in New York City, but no other release details have been confirmed, such as where the sneakers will be available and how much they will cost. This post will be updated as more information becomes available.
