Jimmy Kimmel Live segment helps actors qualify for health insurance

Jimmy Kimmel Live! helped some actors (er, Jeff Goldblum impersonators?) qualify for union health insurance on Thursday night’s episode.

Guest host Goldblum announced a segment for the audience in which he said that they would invite some working actors on stage to speak a few lines and get paid so that they could reach the annual income limit – only to have them all as Jurassic Park Star.

Check out the entire section below.

The segment follows a July casting notice from the late-night show that asked actors to be considered for the role if their income was within $1,401 of the SAG-AFTRA health insurance minimum.

In 2023, SAG-AFTRA will require its members to earn at least $26,470 from their work as actors to qualify for the union’s health insurance, with that amount set to increase by 2% each year.

This isn’t the first time Kimmel has tried to help working actors out. Two years ago, Kerry Washington guest-hosted an episode in which actors were invited onto the show to recite lines, once again just to claim their health insurance.
