BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – WBRC is on your side and follows and receives new information about a story from Hoover Many of you have contacted us via social media and email.
We were able to review the personnel files of former Hoover head coach Drew Gilmer and defensive coordinator Adam Helm from when they worked at Jefferson County Schools.
Both men resigned from their new positions at Hoover High School just last week.
Neither Gilmer’s nor Helm’s files contained any official reports or complaints about the coaches’ conduct or actions prior to their employment with JeffCo. Schools or while working for the school district.
Coach Gilmer’s folder was nearly two inches thick and, although dated 2008, was mostly filled with various teacher accreditations or correspondence.
We reached out to the district to review records after disturbing videos of Hoover football practice were leaked online showing a coach throwing a helmet and a coach thrusting his hips toward a player’s face. As a result, several reports were filed with the police. We have not yet confirmed the names of the coaches who appear in the leaked videos.
The families of two Hover Bucs players have hired lawyers and are considering legal action.
Regarding the reports filed with Hoover Police, officials confirmed that the investigation is ongoing but were unable to provide any new information at this time.
