An IT engineer who earns Rs 100,000 a month has sparked a discussion online after asking users about his future plans. Taking to Reddit, the 23-year-old expressed that he is unsure whether he should continue living in India or move abroad. The Reddit user also explained that he feels “inferior” when he sees pictures showing his friends’ lives abroad. “This is a 23-year-old IT employee from India who earns around Rs 100,000 a month. I think I’m earning pretty well, but I still have an inferior feeling that I’m not doing well,” the user wrote.
“This is because I see my friends studying abroad and their stories and posts honestly make me jealous. Is staying in India worse than settling abroad?” he asked on Reddit. The user further expressed how he feels about the whole situation. “If I want, I can study well and get a well-paying job in India and I am pretty confident that I will. Still, I feel like I won’t find the infrastructure or standard of living there that I will have abroad,” he said.
“So my question is, is it bad or am I not okay just because I am in India? I don’t want to go to other countries and study and give up a good job and all the other things here but the social pressure makes me feel inferior. I don’t know if I can find the right words but I would still like to get an answer from all perspectives,” the Reddit user concluded.

“Social media is designed to scare you… Jealousy is the bread and butter of Insta… Do a risk analysis and you might find out if it’s really worth it for you… While studying abroad has its own benefits, it comes at a price… Everyone wants to show off and hide their problems,” wrote one user.

“I understand the standard of living, but going abroad just because your friends posted something on Instagram is honestly lame,” commented another.
“At least you’re close to your family and making $100,000 is awesome. You’re already making someone’s dream salary and moving abroad just because of friends’ stories and stuff is not a good idea,” commented a third user.
“Try to get a job straight away without doing a master’s degree. Regardless of the pay (although you’ll probably save more in absolute terms), it’s still better to experience foreign countries, especially when you’re physically at the peak of your performance,” suggested Fourth.
