LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A Las Vegas restaurant has reopened after current management claimed that previous management was the cause of the restaurant’s near-permanent closure.
Nashville Hot Chicken, near Desert Inn Road and Decatur Boulevard, opened in fall 2023 and was open for just a few months before it was forced to close. Employees said what happened next was touching.
“The whole time we were unemployed, the owners paid us,” said Teresa Hernandez, who has worked at the restaurant since it opened. “Not many people are like that.”
“I love them. I treat them like my family and try to help them as much as I can because I know what it’s like to struggle,” says Jedia Gan, the restaurant’s co-owner.
For five months, the owners said, they were able to pay their employees and in return they would come to help clean and maintain the closed restaurant.
“We want to keep our employees because they have families and children and are very loyal to us,” said Pavel Necsu, another co-owner of the restaurant. “They came to help us and clean the place.”
While many employees returned, the previous manager was fired after owners claimed he stole money, didn’t pay employees properly and even recycled oil that should have been changed every week. Current management also accused former management of being rude to both customers and employees, which led to bad reviews and gave the company a bad reputation, according to the statement.
After months of hard work, Nashville Hot Chicken purveyors are back. They say they’re promoting a better manager and making tastier chicken.
“We’ve seen more sales now that we’re back in business and it’s like being home,” Hernandez said.
The owners stated that they would not press charges against the previous manager, adding that they simply wanted to put the whole matter behind them.
