After nine years as Gfriend and two years as VIVIZ, singers Umji, Eunha, and SinB believe they have built a pretty close bond with their listeners. However, some opinions expressed by these fans, known as Na.V, in a recent video interview still left them a little perplexed.
For example, two of the members predicted that fans might choose SinB as the best compatriot on a desert island. “SinB is the most skilled and is really good at making things,” Eunha explained in a FanTalk 2 chat with Korea JoongAng Daily and Celeb Confirmed. SinB herself added that she would be “a little upset” if Na.V chose another compatriot.
However, fans overwhelmingly preferred Umji. “You’re isolated and lonely on a deserted island, so I think our fans would have chosen me so they can talk to me,” the member said after seeing the result. “You naturally feel lonely when you’re all alone, and I’m the one who can really make people feel like they’re with someone.”
“You can probably make a living just by talking,” SinB agreed. “Maybe it’s like ‘Cast Away,’ where you paint a face on a volleyball and talk to the ball.”
Eunha was the only member who didn’t expect the fans to choose her.
“It’s not worth taking me to a deserted island,” she said. “I’d just rather be home.”
In FanTalk 2, the second season of Celeb Confirmed’s FanTalk series, K-pop idols can guess how their fans would have answered questions about them.
Na.V shocked the members again by answering that they would rather watch videos of VIVIZ drinking together than videos of them working out at the gym.
“We’ve already had shows where we’ve been drinking together, and fans have told us they’d like to see us practice,” SinB said.
“On the other hand, I don’t think we were drunk in those videos – at least it didn’t look like that,” Eunha said. “I think they want to see us tipsy.”
However, VIVIZ and its fans were able to agree on a few issues. Na.V correctly predicted that the group prefers to travel without a plan rather than following a strictly set route.
“That’s the beauty of traveling: you sense new and unexpected things when you’re confronted with them,” says Eunha, who is known to travel by ear.
“I want to do something like a vacation where you choose the destination by roulette,” said SinB.
VIVIZ members also received numerous video messages from Na.V from all over the world expressing their support and love for the girl group.
One fan praised VIVIZ as “dynamic” artists, citing their ability to handle multiple genres such as pop, rock, and R&B. The group’s latest track, “Maniac,” was an alternative rock-based pop soundtrack.
“Every time we prepare a new album, we try our best to be different, so I’m glad our fans notice that,” SinB said.
“VIVIZ will continue to try out new and different genres in the future,” said Eunha.
