WASHINGTON, DC – Police are asking the public for help in identifying suspects involved in two armed robberies that occurred in Southeast Washington on Monday, August 26. In both incidents, the suspects entered businesses, pulled out firearms, stole money and fled the scene.
The first robbery occurred at approximately 12:24 p.m. in the 3800 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast. The second occurred shortly thereafter, at approximately 12:46 p.m., in the 1400 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast.
Surveillance cameras recorded images of the suspects.
Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact DC Metro Police at (202) 727-9099 or text a tip to 50411. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
- Police investigate shooting in Lincoln
Lincoln, DE – Delaware State Police detectives are investigating a shooting incident that occurred Wednesday morning on Issacs Road near Lincoln.
The incident occurred on August 28 at approximately 11:41 a.m. when officers were dispatched to a report of a road rage dispute. According to preliminary investigations, the victim was driving northbound on Issacs Road when a confrontation with the driver of an unknown pickup truck escalated. The driver of the pickup truck fired one shot at the victim before fleeing the scene. Fortunately, the victim was unharmed.
The investigation is being led by the Delaware State Police’s 4th Troop Criminal Investigation Division. Authorities are asking anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident to contact Detective H. Lingo at 302-752-3864. - Delaware man arrested for multiple gas station robberies
Wilmington, DE — Delaware State Police have arrested Joshua Liebal, a 38-year-old Wilmington resident, in connection with a series of armed robberies at gas stations in New Castle County this week.
On August 28, 2024, at approximately 8:10 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Star Gas Station on Kirkwood Highway following a report of a robbery. Investigation revealed that a masked white male suspect, armed with a knife, entered the gas station and demanded that the cashier employee open the cash register. After the employee complied, the suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene in a silver GMC Envoy.
Shortly thereafter, a patrol officer on patrol spotted a silver GMC Envoy matching the description of the suspect’s vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, identified as Joshua Liebal, was wearing clothing matching the description of the robbery suspect and was arrested without incident.
Liebal is currently facing charges of a number of armed robberies; the investigation is ongoing.
- Fatal accident claims one life, another injured
CHesapeake, VA – Chesapeake Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred early Thursday morning at the intersection of Fentress Airfield Road and Blackwater Road.
On August 29, 2024, at approximately 5:55 a.m., officers responded to a car crash involving a minivan and a small SUV. According to the initial investigation, the minivan was traveling westbound on Blackwater Road when it entered the intersection and was struck by the SUV, which was traveling northbound on Fentress Airfield Road.
The driver of the minivan, an adult male, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV, also an adult male, was uninjured and remained at the scene after the accident.
The Chesapeake Police Accident Reconstruction Team is currently investigating the incident. The identity of the deceased driver will be released once next of kin have been notified.
