City of Birmingham hosts several town hall meetings on rezoning initiative

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (WBRC) – The City of Birmingham says it is working on a citywide rezoning initiative for revitalization and growth as part of its ongoing master plan.

The City’s Planning, Engineering and Permitting Department will hold several public events to gather community input and ensure the city’s future meets community needs. Participants will be able to review proposed changes and provide feedback.

If you are interested or would like to attend one of the meetings, you can find the dates and locations of these meetings below:

  • Meeting in the eastern area
    • Thursday, August 29
    • 5:30 p.m.
    • Social Enterprise, 5529 1st Ave. South
    • Neighborhoods: East Birmingham, Inglenook, Kingston, North Avondale, East Avondale, Oak Ridge Park, South Woodlawn, Woodlawn, Brown Springs, East Lake, Gate City, North East Lake, Wahouma, Zion City, Airport Hills, Brownsville Heights, Brummit Heights , Maple Grove and Penfield Park
  • Meeting in the southern area
    • Tuesday, September 10
    • 6pm
    • Highland Golf Club – Upper Level, 3300 Highland Ave.
    • Neighborhoods: Crestwood North, Crestwood South, Crestline, Eastwood, Forest Park – South Avondale, Highland Park and Redmont Park
  • Meeting of the North and South sides
    • Thursday, September 12
    • 6pm
    • Protective Stadium – Stadium Club Level, 1020 24th St. North
    • Neighborhoods: Central City, Druid Hills, Evergreen, Fountain Heights, Norwood, Five Points South, Glen Iris and Southside
  • Pratt-Ensley Area Meeting
    • Monday, September 30
