REDLANDS, Calif. (AP) — Authorities in Southern California are searching for a missing couple who were last seen leaving their home at a nudist ranch over the weekend.

Stephanie Menard, 73, and her 79-year-old husband, Daniel, were reported missing to Redlands police on Sunday by a concerned friend, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Police said the couple’s unlocked car was found later Sunday not far from their residence and that their two phones and Stephanie Menard’s purse were still in their home.

The couple’s dog, a small Shih Tzu named Cuddles, is also missing, the newspaper reported.

According to police, Daniel Menard has been diagnosed with diabetes and dementia. He and his wife were last seen near their home on Saturday morning.

The couple’s friend, Tammie Wilkerson, told KABC-TV that the Menards live at the Olive Dell Ranch nudist resort about 60 miles east of Los Angeles.

“They’re very nice people,” Wilkerson said. “They’re not evil in the slightest, which makes the whole thing very confusing.”
