Former NBA player Carmelo Anthony wants to become an NBA owner.
It would be even nicer to have Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade as a partner.
In a recent episode of 7PM in Brooklyn, Anthony talked about the project.
“I’m trying to raise money now, trying to raise money with my sports fund. I’ve traveled around the world, like to Japan and this place and that place to raise funds,” Anthony said. “It’s hard to raise money, it’s hard to raise money. Most people say you have the money, but it’s hard to raise money and get people to understand what sports is. There’s so much money spent on sports and people don’t really understand it. People really don’t understand sports.”
Anthony earned more than $260 million in NBA salary over the course of his career. He loves the idea of owning a team with Wade and LeBron James, who all entered the NBA in 2003.
“I think it would be great because that’s how you create what is called intergenerational. You know what I mean: It’s intergenerational,” Anthony said. “If we can do that, it’s a legacy. I don’t know how open I am. I don’t know how open they are; everyone is in their own situation.”
Wade has plenty of experience. He became a minority owner of the Utah Jazz in 2021. He is also part of the ownership group of the WNBA’s Chicago Sky.
