COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (KKTV) – On Wednesday, the City of Colorado Springs and Venu announced they held a meeting on Wednesday to discuss the Ford Amphitheater.
Mayor Yemi Mobolade, City Council President Randy Helms, JW Roth, founder, chairman and CEO of Venu, and Bob Mudd, president and chief operating officer of Venu, all attended the meeting, the city said.
The City of Colorado Springs and Venu issued this joint statement on Wednesday:
“Together, we are committed to considering the experiences of residents who have raised concerns about Ford Amphitheater. Noise reporting and all mitigation requirements have been confirmed to be in compliance after the first three weeks of operation. Nonetheless, we all recognize the need to explore alternative mitigation strategies to address noise. Today, we have identified short- and long-term strategies aimed at reducing unintended impacts to our community. We ask for the community’s patience and forbearance while further investigations are conducted and these measures are developed and implemented.”
They listed some important findings:
- Commitment against fireworks
- Venu has committed not to hold any fireworks display except on Independence Day.
- Increase the depth of the existing Eastern Sound Wall
- Venu said they are in the process of increasing the sound barrier from 2 feet to 50 feet
- Improve soundproofing measures
- Venu is committed to reviewing performance data with its acoustics team and production companies to determine how potential redesign measures, such as adjusting speaker positioning, can further reduce sound transmission outside the amphitheater.
- Physical damage reduction
- Venu will work on the feasibility and effectiveness of additional physical mitigation measures pending the results of sound mitigation research.
