Crop tops are back in style and aren’t going anywhere. However, for those of us who were there the first time around, Kelly Clarkson has a genius trick for wearing the statement piece even on those days when you might not want to show as much skin.
The TV personality rocked a gorgeous mint green cropped tailored shirt from ASOS LUXE and paperbag pants during an appearance on her talk show in early 2024, but the mother of two paired it with a white bodysuit.
The look not only covered her stomach but also offered more coverage in the chest area as the short shirt had a low neckline.
Kelly’s fashion has definitely changed in the last year since she moved to New York City; the American Idol The former student made the big move across the country last fall with her children River Rose (9) and Remington Alexander (7) after her divorce from Brandon Blackstock.
Fans previously saw Kelly in boho style with long skirts and maxi dresses, but over the past year she has turned to a new, bolder style that includes more figure-hugging preppy pieces. including pencil skirts and shirts.
Her stylist Micaela Erlanger told HELLO! about the style change: “It’s a new look, it’s a new year and it’s really exciting. I’m really grateful that she trusts me and that she trusts my eye and we experiment and play a bit more.”
Kelly’s growing confidence also comes from losing about 50 pounds after being diagnosed with prediabetes and being prescribed a new medication recommended by her doctor.
Kelly added that her doctor had long recommended the drug, but she had avoided it for a while due to her thyroid condition and concerns about the drug’s effects.
“Mine is different from what people assume (Ozempic), but in the end I had to do it too,” she explained to Whoopi Goldberg, an EGOT winner, in an episode of her show earlier this year. “Everyone thinks it’s Ozempic, but it’s not – it’s something else.”
She also attributes her new home to a change in her lifestyle: she recognizes that New York City is now easily accessible on foot, so she doesn’t have to rely on her car and can enjoy her new neighborhood with her children.
