Reddit experienced a major outage on Wednesday, August 28, with the site’s various pages mostly inaccessible. Reddit is an extremely popular forum site where people with a wide range of interests come together to discuss everything from video games to recipes to true crime to politics and basically any topic you can imagine. It’s one of the most popular sites in the world and has been for years.


Gamers have flocked to Reddit for years to talk about their favorite video games. Sometimes gamers go to Reddit to ask questions about how to play through a certain section of a game, and other times they go there to share Easter eggs they’ve found, discuss lore theories, or just share the memorable moments they’ve experienced in their games. Reddit is used by millions of people every day, and so it’s a good thing that it rarely goes down.

Unfortunately, at the time of writing, Reddit is experiencing one of its rare major outages. As of 3:26 p.m. CT on August 28, Reddit has been down and its users are unable to access it. Anyone attempting to use Reddit is receiving a message saying that the page cannot load due to a server error. While we cannot say with 100 percent certainty how widespread this Reddit outage is, over 150,000 people have reported issues with the site via Down Detector. This suggests that this is a massive outage that could very well affect all try using Reddit.
