The Google Pixel 9 Pro XL is the most powerful slab phone that Google announced this year, well, along with the Pixel 9 Pro. These devices have already started arriving to consumers, and problems have started cropping up. Some Pixel 9 Pro XL users have started complaining about a camera tilt issue.

This actually came on the heels of a report that the Pixel 9 series was experiencing wireless charging issues. But that’s a whole other story. Let’s focus on the issue at hand.

Some Pixel 9 Pro XL users have a problem with the tilt of the camera

A Pixel 9 Pro XL user reported a camera tilt issue on Reddit. The problem appears to be related to the phone’s telephoto lens. This camera tilt is apparently noticeable when recording video.

The user noticed the problem when switching from 2x to 5x zoom, as shown below. You can clearly see how the image rotates slightly to the right when switching between two zoom levels.

This user doesn’t seem to be the only one experiencing this issue. Additional users reported having the same problem and left a comment in this Reddit thread. What’s worse is that this issue isn’t exclusive to the telephoto camera.

However, the problem does not seem to occur exclusively with the telephoto camera

Another Reddit user says that the tilt is visible on the ultra-wide camera as well. Another user chimed in and said that they are having issues with both the telephoto and ultra-wide cameras, the tilt is visible on both.

Some users reported that the issues occur on their phones as well, but not always. Note that none of our devices experience this issue, including the Pixel 9 Pro XL.

We’re not sure what’s going on here, but we’re hoping it’s just a software issue and not a hardware problem. In other words, we’re hoping Google can fix the problem with an update.
