What will Brock Bowers of the Las Vegas Raiders’ target share be in 2024?

The Las Vegas Raiders are expecting a great season from their rookie tight end Brock Bowers.

The Raiders selected the superstar from Georgia with the number 13 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. It came as a surprise, but the Raiders had Bowers as the best player on their board.

Bowers could have a great season even if he shares duties with Raiders second-year star Michael Mayer. The Raiders could have an excellent tight end duo with these two young stars.

Although Bowers is a rookie, he has a unique skill set that tight ends don’t have. He could be a key part of the offense because of his ability on the football field.

Bowers could be an important part of the team, but some talented pass catchers could be ahead of him.

Let’s evaluate what Bowers’ target share might look like in the Raiders’ offense in 2024.

The Raiders have one of the NFL’s best wide receivers in Davante Adams. Gardner Minshew II will look in Adams’ direction almost every time he takes a snap and then drop back to pass. Adams has averaged nearly 175 passes over the past three seasons and should be able to target nearly that many again in 2024.

In addition to one of our game’s top stars, the Raiders have an extremely reliable second receiver in wide receiver Jakobi Meyers. The veteran is always free on third down and can make big plays when he has the ball in his hands.

Because of his reliability, Minshew should also look for him frequently. The Raiders’ two best targets should be their outside hitters Adams and Meyers.

After those two, it could come down to the tight ends. Mayer played well at the end of the season last year, but Minshew doesn’t know him as well as Aidan O’Connell.

Therefore, it could be a neck-and-neck race between the two outstanding tight ends. It could come down to which tight end is on the field from down to down and which is only used on passing attempts.

If Bowers is used on a case-by-case basis, the Raiders believe he can contribute to the running and passing game. Could he emerge as the Raiders’ third-best target receiver?

It should be fun to see what Pergola is doing in his rookie season. Where he ranks in the target priority just shows that the Raiders have several good receivers.
