Asa Butterfield (“Sex Education”), Molly Windsor (“Three Girls”), Fra Fee (“Hawkeye”), Siobhan Finneran (“Time”) and Christopher Eccleston (“True Detective”) lead the cast of “Out of the Dust,” a new Netflix series from “Intergalactic” writer Julie Gearey.
A psychological thriller set in a conservative Christian sect, “Out of the Dust” tells the story of Rosie (Windsor), a dutiful wife and mother who embarks on a dangerous path of emancipation and sexual awakening when she has an encounter with Sam (Fee), an escaped convict.
Butterfield plays Adam, Finneran will play Mrs Phillips and Eccleston will star as Mr Phillips in the six-part series from Double Dutch Productions, part of Banijay UK.
“Rosie lives with her husband Adam and their daughter in a secluded Christian community,” the synopsis states. “The fateful appearance of escaped prisoner Sam in her life reveals the reality and constraints of her world; perhaps this hidden religious community does not have her best interests at heart. And when cracks appear in her marriage, Sam presents himself as her savior. But given his dark criminal past, who poses the greatest threat – the cult or Sam?”
Filming began this month in the UK under the direction of Jim Loach (“Criminal Record”) and Philippa Langdale (“A Discovery of Witches”).
Iona Vrolyk and Myar Craig-Brown produce with Gearey for Double Dutch Productions. Nick Pitt produces.
“Intergalactic” producer Vrolyk founded the Banijay UK-backed label Double Dutch Productions in 2022. “Out of the Dust” is the label’s first release.
