Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run near Paradise, Tropicana in Las Vegas

According to Las Vegas authorities, a pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run accident near the airport early Monday morning.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded to Paradise Road south of the intersection with Naples Drive around 3:09 a.m. Monday.

According to a preliminary accident report from the Metropolitan Police Department, evidence at the scene indicated that a man was walking southbound on Paradise Road in the second lane from the left.

A collision occurred when a 2010 Nissan Altima struck the pedestrian and threw him onto the road. The Nissan did not stay at the scene of the accident and fled south on Paradise.

The medical personnel arrived and declared the victim, presumably 33 years old, dead at the scene of the accident.

Detectives later found the Nissan in the parking lot of the company at 1131 Lulu Avenue.

Van Deangelo Burrell, 33, was located and arrested for hit-and-run, police said.

The death was the 97th traffic-related death this year in Metro’s jurisdiction.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity and determine the manner of death after next of kin are notified.
