Top candidate for 2026, Tyran Stokes, plans basketball visit to Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky – Shortly after welcoming a top-ranked 2025 prospect to campus, the Louisville men’s basketball program has just secured a major visitor for the next round.

Sherman Oaks (California) Notre Dame forward Tyran Stokes, the top-ranked prospect in the class of 2026 and a Louisville native, has officially scheduled an official visit with the Cardinals, according to multiple reports, and was first contacted by On3s Joe Tipton. The visit is scheduled to take place on the weekend of October 4, which is also the weekend of this year’s edition of “Louisville Live”.

The 6’7″ and 240 lbs power forward is considered by two of the four major recruiting services to be the most promising young player in the 2026 cycle and is, according to the 247Sport Composite. As you can imagine, he already has several high-profile offers from major universities such as Kentucky, Kansas, North Carolina, UCLA and others.

There’s a reason so many bluebloods are after Stokes. He spent the first two years of his high school career at Prolific Prep in Napa, Calif., and averaged 13.1 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game his sophomore year. He was named to the MaxPreps Sophomore All-American first team and helped Prolific Prep to a 34-6 record and a No. 4 national ranking.

Stokes has also performed excellently in the offseason. While playing for the Oakland Soldiers on the Nike EYBL tour, he averaged 20.0 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. He also played for the USA U17 national basketball team and helped them win the gold medal at the FIBA ​​U17 World Championship, averaging 12.3 points, 7.0 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game.
