OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) – A man accused of blackmailing a woman tried to escape Marion County officials when he was confronted at a Walmart store.
On Friday, a woman reported that 35-year-old Joshua Comer sent her text messages demanding money. When she refused, he threatened to post nude photos of her online. He then sent a sexually explicit video to two of her friends via Facebook Messenger.
While the investigation was ongoing, the Levy County Sheriff’s Office directed Marion County officials to be on the lookout for Comer. They say he had robbed a gas station there and was on his way to Marion County.
Officers located Comer’s vehicle in the parking lot of a Walmart on North Williams Street in Dunnellon. Inside, they found Comer in the produce section.
Comer ran out the back entrance of the store. He pushed a shopping cart into a patrol car and was pursued by officers.
Officers arrested him and found a stolen pistol, ammunition and two pipes that tested positive for fentanyl.
