Victoria Leonardo welcomed fellow flyweight Wang Cong into the Octagon at UFC Vegas 76 on Saturday. The fight opened the evening’s preliminary round.
Chinese Cong, also known as “The Joker,” didn’t have much experience but reached a perfect 5-0 after his victory at Road to UFC 3 earlier this year.
The Chinese newcomer wasted no time in making her presence known in the promotion, starting the card with a bang.
Round one began and Leonardo immediately applied pressure. Wang was able to close the distance with her kicks. She combined her body and leg kicks. Cong then landed a one-two right that put Leonardo asleep before she even hit the mat. An explosive knockout that came in just over a minute.
Following the win, Cong expressed her displeasure with her position as a contender on the UFC Vegas 96 card.
“Actually, I’m not happy today. I don’t know why UFC put me first in the preliminary fights. I think I deserve the main card,” Cong explained through an interpreter. “So, UFC Macau, I have to fight on the main card.”
She had to say something too. “Next, Casey O’Neill. Are you ready?”
Official result: Wang Cong defeated Victoria Leonardo by KO (punch), round 1, 1:02
