After closing early on Saturday due to rainy conditions, Burning Man has reopened the gates to Black Rock City.

According to a post by Burning Man Traffic on X, the gates reopened at 3:15 p.m.

They point out that the closure may cause traffic congestion and ask people to drive carefully and obey traffic rules.

The Burning Man Project is asking participants to turn around and stay in Reno. Due to rain, the gates to Black Rock City have been closed.

“It is not safe to wait on the side of the road on the way to the BRC,” the organizers wrote on the Project bulletin board. “We also need to respect our neighboring communities of Wadsworth, Nixon, Empire and Gerlach – do not park in those communities while we wait for the gate to reopen.”

Organizers expect the rain to ease in the early morning or afternoon and plan to open the gates as soon as it is safe to do so.

Burner Express buses leaving San Francisco are two hours late, and buses leaving Reno are being held back until organizers are sure it is safe to drive on the Playa.
