Georgi Lozanov, editor-in-chief of the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) magazine LIK, on Saturday described the seaside resort of Albena as an example of a recreation and entertainment resort that was able to build its reputation before 1989 (the end of the communist regime in Bulgaria) and maintain it afterward. He was speaking at the presentation of the July issue of LIK, which is dedicated to the resort.
He attributed Albena’s long-lasting reputation to its architecture, which has managed to preserve and develop its qualities in the free world, even though it was created in a world of control.
“This means that at any time there are values that the ideological conjuncture cannot prevent. The free world with its commercialization could not harm Albena, as it did with many other places on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. Even the people’s interest in a free economy gave the resort a new impetus. In this sense, Albena is an example of what the organizational and management model of Bulgarian resorts should look like,” said Lozanov.
He added that with this issue, LIK magazine turns to popular culture, leisure and lifestyle culture. According to him, this is a valuable turn for the magazine itself, because in the modern world, lifestyle is a very important type of cultural identity, which is related to human free choice.
