Flint – Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump will deliver an economic speech in Potterville on Thursday, his campaign team announced.

Trump will speak at Alro Steel, a metal and plastics distributor, at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, the press release said. The press release did not describe the event as a rally, nor did it provide a link for the general public to register to attend.

“President Trump knows that the people of Michigan cannot afford another four years of an administration that spends our hard-earned money frivolously,” the Trump campaign press release said. “President Trump will make America affordable again and ensure that more of our money stays in our wallets.”

Trump’s campaign appears to be putting Michigan in the spotlight next week, with the upcoming event announced during the Michigan Republican National Convention in Flint on Saturday.

In addition to his stop in Potterville, the Republican candidate will speak at a National Guard Association of the United States conference in Detroit on Monday, and his running mate, Ohio U.S. Senator JD Vance, will visit the Big Rapids area on Tuesday.

The events in Detroit and Potterville will be Trump’s seventh and eighth stops in Michigan this year.

Trump last visited Michigan on Tuesday, when he spoke about crime during a closed event at a Livingston County Sheriff’s Office facility in Howell.

Trump is the only Republican presidential candidate to win Michigan since 1988. He won the state in 2016 against Democrat Hillary Clinton by less than one percentage point, 47.5% to 47.3%, or about 10,700 votes. But four years later, in 2020, Trump lost Michigan to Democrat Joe Biden by three percentage points, 48% to 51%.
