A Connecticut resident was outside enjoying the late summer air earlier this week when the quiet calm of that peaceful moment was unexpectedly shattered.
Suddenly, and for no apparent reason, there was a cacophony of shouts and screams, and there was more than just excitement. It was obviously quite confusing.
Interestingly, this moment was captured on camera:
The “he” in this scenario was, of course, a pretty big bear.
While walking around the neighborhood, he accidentally came across Kristen Lee and her family sitting and playing in their driveway. And while it seems like the bear really had no interest in spoiling the fun, his presence alone had that effect.
While the family flees into the house in fear, the bear seems to pause for a moment – perhaps he is curious about what the problem might be.
Given the unexpected appearance of the bear in their garden, it’s hard to blame the family for their reaction. In fact, they did exactly the right thing.
According to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s guide, “Basics of Living with Black Bears,” “If you see a bear in your yard, do not approach it! Go into your house, garage or other building.”
Tested. Tested.
