For guests at Play Playground, it’s all about hanging out with friends or even making new friends in a fun environment.

“Guests can expect to socialize or even reconnect with existing ones. During this exceptionally playful experience, guests are encouraged to unleash their inner child and make new friends, have fun, be silly, laugh, and high-five each other,” Jennifer Worthington, co-founder of Play Playground, told The Blast exclusively.

“A key aspect of developing Play Playground was capturing the whimsy of childhood, and that’s something we’re excited to share with the world.”

Play Playground is a “screen-free experience”

When designing the adults-only attraction, Worthington said it was important that it be a “screen-free experience.”

“How could we get people to put down their devices, interact face-to-face and make personal connections?” she continued. “We looked at the time when adults were happiest, which was as children, playing games. We wanted games that evoked childhood nostalgia, but still challenged our guests to step outside of their comfort zone.”

There are 20 games which are movement, memory and puzzle games designed for group play. Some of the games you will find are Doctor! Doctor!, Perfect Popper, Move It, Poker Parkour and Bullseye Bounce.

What you should know before your visit…

Before spending some time at Play Playground, Worthington wants people to know that “this is the ultimate place where people can let go of their inhibitions, make friends and celebrate.”

“Play Playground was created to create a special environment focused on socializing and competition,” she said. “Whether you’re here with old friends, on a date, or just looking to experience something new, there’s something here for you to take away.”

Worthington also wants people to know that “everything you do, see and play with is real.”

“The memories and experiences made here are based on enjoying time with friends new and old and providing people with a much-needed escape from the countless overwhelming events taking place in the world,” she explained.

“The best part of this attraction is undoubtedly the opportunity to socialize. When I visit Play Playground, I see people high-fiving each other, laughing with their friends, and screaming with excitement as the countdown to their games goes on. The camaraderie and excitement I have experienced here has exceeded my expectations. It feels surreal to see our vision come to life in this way.”

Sorry, kids: the playground is for adults!

Sorry, kids! Play Playground may look like a kid’s dream come true, but it’s actually a 21+ facility.

“This is the first of its kind. We had a clear vision, but we also learned a lot,” Worthington said.

“Initially, there were set opening hours for under-21s, but this led to confusion about what the space was actually for. By making it only accessible to over-21s, our audience has a clear idea of what to expect when they visit.”
