It’s finally here: Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs has opened at Disney BoardWalk after being announced last summer. Of course, we had to rush to try the entire menu.

Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs is located in the former Funnel Cake kiosk. It has been renovated with a blue and yellow color scheme.

In addition to some unique gourmet corn sausages, Blue Ribbon also offers lemonade. There are also two flavors of cotton candy on the menu, but they weren’t available on opening day. We’ll have to try them again another time.

Everything is freshly prepared and when you order, a buzzer sounds to let you know when your food is ready.

The large hot dog is the classic adult corn dog, while the small hot dog is the kids dog, which tastes just like it. “Classic” is an apt name. It tastes as good as any corn dog you get at a park or ball game. It has a great sweet coating and the hot dog is salty. Still, it’s nothing special.

Pickle Dog – $15.50

This tastes like a breaded pickle appetizer. The pickle is too big and overpowers everything. It’s weird to eat so much pickle with a hot dog. The peanut butter dip is interesting. This is worth a try if you like fried pickles.

Mexican Street Dog – $15.50

Jalapeño cheddar sausage fried in cornmeal batter, topped with garlic mayonnaise, corn kernels, cotija cheese and cilantro. Garnished with a lime wedge and served with a bag of chips.

This was our favorite of the gourmet hot dogs. If you like street corn toppings, you’ll like this one. It has a sweet tang that goes well with the salty hot dog. It would be nice to have more breading for more cornbread flavor, but it’s still a win.

Golden Dragon – $15.50

All-beef hot dog fried in corn flour batter and coated in panko breadcrumbs. Served with Sriracha mayonnaise, sweet Thai chili and a bag of chips.

This hot dog is a meal. The extra panko makes it crispy. The Sriracha mayo is a miss for us. It’s sweet and creamy, but not what we want in a corn dog. The Thai chili has a nice sweet heat. We enjoyed it for the most part, but it’s too heavy for the Florida heat. It might be a good option for sharing.

This is a classic freshly squeezed lemonade. It tastes good, but we would have liked more citric acid. We also think the lemonades are too expensive. We would rather just have a lemonade.

Strawberry Lemonade – $7 for the regular 16oz bottle and $9 for the large 32oz bottle

It has a strong strawberry flavor and is not tart. Children will enjoy it.

Hibiscus Agave Lemonade – $8 for the regular 16oz pack and $10 for the large 32oz pack

This is too sour for us, but some may like it. It has a more floral flavor than the others. It is more sour than the strawberry, but still sweet.

Rating of 7: 2

Raspberry Apricot Lemonade – $8 for the regular 16 oz bottle and $10 for the large 32 oz bottle

This is good. It retains the acidity and sweetness of the raspberry. We didn’t taste much lemon.
