One of Disneyland Anaheim’s most popular park traditions is returning early this year! The Halloween season officially begins on Friday, August 23rd and lasts until October 31st with festive decorations, delicious treats, sweet fall merchandise and events taking over the resort.

Halloween is one of the most popular pastimes at the Disneyland Resort, and Halloween attractions are back this year, including new outfits for Mickey Mouse and Co. in his “Mickey’s Trick and Treat” show at Disney California Adventure Park. For the first time, the show will be offered during the day at the Disney Theater.

The Main Street Pumpkin Festival is back and its focus is on the signature Mickey Mouse pumpkin.

Elsewhere in the park, fans can visit the Haunted Mansion Holiday attraction, inspired by the cult film. Nightmare Before Christmas – The Nightmare Before Christmaswhich includes a gingerbread house with a giant gingerbread zombie created by mad scientist Dr. Finkelstein. You’ll see many other fan-favorite Halloween Town residents like Oogie Boogie, Jack Skellington, and Sally!

At nightfall, Disneyland Park presents its Halloween Screams entertainment with spectacular performances by Disney villains in front of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle, culminating in a breathtaking fireworks display.

For a limited time, guests can also take the Happiest Haunts guided tour, which stops at the Haunted Mansion for a special photo shoot and offers reserved tickets to the Halloween Screams spectacular.

Disney California Adventure Park will be completely decked out in Halloween decorations, Radiator Springs will be transformed, and the Headless Horseman statue will take its place on Buena Vista Street. Other attractions that will be transformed seasonally include Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree, Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark, and Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween.

Other attractions include the separately ticketed Halloween party known as “Oogie Boogie Bash” and the return of Plaza de la Familia to Paradise Gardens in honor of Día de las Muertos, complete with a small menu inspired by Mexican cuisine.

The event at Plaza de la Familia runs through November 2. Note that the show at the Plaza, “The Storytellers of Plaza de la Familia Celebrate the Musical World of Coco!”, does not open until August 30.

There is much more fun to be had at Disneyland Resort and its parks, I recommend visiting the official Halloween Time website to get more detailed information about the different attractions and to have the opportunity to purchase park tickets.
