COEUR d’ALENE, Idaho – Recent developments surrounding the closure of the Faithful K-9 facility have left a local dog owner in despair. Marla Haller is struggling with the emotional turmoil of not knowing where her beloved dog, Uriee, is, who was allegedly given away without her consent.
Uriee, a dog originally acquired as a service dog for Haller’s late mother, Joan, was placed with Faithful K9 when Joan became ill and was admitted to intensive care. The facility, which had been offering dog boarding, abruptly closed after the death of a dog in their care. The sudden closure has sent Haller on a frantic search for Uriee, who she says was not surrendered to the facility. After learning of the closure, Haller attempted to reach Faithful K9 through phone calls and in-person visits, but received no response. Her attempts to contact animal control were futile, as they indicated that Uriee had not been picked up by them when the facility closed. She then contacted local police for help. Monique Smith, Uriee’s co-owner, learned through social media that the dog had been surrendered to a couple. However, she does not know who they are or where they live. Haller’s plea for Uriee’s return highlights the deep emotional connection she has with her pet, who also provided a valuable connection to her mother. “I just want him back,” Haller said through tears. “He’s a wonderful dog. I pray they love him and take care of him, but I need him back.” Faithful K9’s owner, Richie Alaniz, is currently in jail and has not responded to requests for comment. Authorities are urging anyone with information on Uriee’s whereabouts or the couple who took him in to contact Coeur d’Alene police. Monique is providing updates on her website, just visit this link.
