HENDERSON, Nevada – The Las Vegas Raiders are beginning their fifth week of practice and preparing to host the San Francisco 49ers at Allegiant Stadium on Friday for their final exhibition game of the season.

Silver and Black coach Antonio Pierce has announced that Gardner Minshew is the team’s starting quarterback and the team will move on.

None of the stars will play on Friday night.

C Jack Jones has been a star since joining the Silver and Black, and he took time before practice to discuss his thoughts on the state of Raider Nation.

Our latest Las Vegas Raiders Insider podcast features our 26th training camp update with a focus on the quarterback decision.

Las Vegas Raiders coach Antonio Pierce recently gave a speech before practice. A partial transcript is below.

Opening statement: “I’ll start right away: Gardner Minshew will be the starting quarterback in the 2024 season. Me, (Tom) Telesco and Luke Getsy discussed that this morning. A lot of things went into it. It wasn’t based on last night. There are a lot of factors, so we believe Gardner gives us the best chance to get going quickly, and that’s what we’re doing. We support him, our teams behind him, our staff behind him, organizations behind him.”

Q: Not necessarily in terms of all the specifics, but what do you think outweighs the advantages of Gardner Minshew over Aidan O’Connell?

Coach Pierce: “Experience, the process, the processing. The same things we saw in practice showed up in the games to some extent. We can get better at a lot of things. I don’t think anything here is a finished product, but based on the first quarter of the season, we believe Gardner (Minshew) gives us the best chance.”
