HUNTSVILLE, Alabama (WAFF) – Rep. Dale Strong was in the Rocket City on Monday to update Alabama residents on his first term in Congress and his plans for the coming year.
Strong provided insights into the state of the economy and how North Alabama contributes to it.
According to Strong, the IRS and VA have paid back $18 million to families in northern Alabama so far this year.
Strong said District 5 also received nearly $160 million in federal grants last year.
He added that the increasing funding for Rocket City shows the impact Alabama has on the entire country.
“People in Washington DC know who we are,” Strong said. “Our success, starting with the German rocket team and everything that’s happened here, is incredible. And then you look at the United Launch Alliance. That’s the largest rocket production facility in the world.”
Strong said he is currently working with other members of Congress to bring more Washington officials to Huntsville to show them how the community is contributing to missile projects around the globe.
