Adidas upgrades a trio of classic sneakers with premium details

The history of Adidas goes back to 1924, when Adi Dassler and his brother Rudolph began making shoes in their mother’s laundry room.

It is noteworthy that American sprinter Jesse Owens wore a pair of the brothers’ shoes at the 1936 Summer Olympics and won four gold medals. However, the shoes were not yet called Adidas at the time and it took until 1949 for Dassler to establish the brand we know today.

That year, Dassler split from his brother (who later founded Puma), trademarked the Adidas name, and secured what would soon become one of the most iconic symbols in the history of sportswear: three parallel stripes that adorned the sides of his company’s shoes.

To celebrate the 75th anniversary of this milestone, Adidas has decided to reissue some of its most popular models – Samba, Gazelle and Spezial – and equip the shoes with premium details that do justice to the special occasion.

Iconic designs, first-class details

The 75th Anniversary Collection currently consists of three men’s models, including the Samba, Gazelle and Spezial, all of which feature a gold foil logo and the number “75” on the heels. The exact anniversary of Adidas’ founding, August 18, 2024, is embossed on the inner lining of the shoes.

The Samba is the oldest of the three models and is still very popular today. It was launched in 1950, originally as a football boot for snowy conditions, but was redesigned in 1972 and given its current shape.
