Remember Luke Getsy? You remember Luke Getsy. He was the guy you yelled at every Sunday afternoon for two seasons. You thought he could recapture the magic he found in Green Bay with the Bears, but it turns out the NFL is a little harder to understand when you don’t have one of the top six quarterbacks of all time on your roster.
In case you’re not completely up to date on personnel decisions in the AFC West, it’s important to first inform you that Luke Getsy is now with the Raiders. Really! He’s their offensive coordinator because a team apparently saw what he did with the Bears and wanted more. He was hired this past offseason to run Antonio Pierce’s offense, which means he hasn’t coordinated a game yet. That’s not stopping Raiders fans from firing him on Twitter.com, though. Yes Now You remember Luke Getsy.
Calling Getsy’s scheme a Mickey Mouse offense is the most relatable experience for the modern Bears fan. Raiders fans simply have no idea how many 2nd-and-long runs they’re going to see this year, and it’s probably better that it stays that way. Ignorance really is bliss when your favorite football team has an unhealthy penchant for bubble screens.
Things are probably getting better for poor Luke though. He has two QBs to choose from! While the Bears only had Justin Fields (apologies to Tyson Bagent and his family), the Raiders have Gardner Minshew And Aidan O’Connell. When you have that much firepower up the middle, I think it’s almost impossible to have a bad passing offense.
It’s too bad that Raiders fans are so quick to take to the internet and bash Getsy. They could learn a thing or two about kindness from Bears fans who definitely didn’t do the same. At least Bears fans waited until the regular season.
