A food truck has found an innovative way to keep its customers happy: by offering insurance on their meals.
Hawkins BBQ is a mobile food truck known for its sandwiches, chips and ice cream, but lately it has been experiencing problems with its local poultry.
The snack bar on the Isle of Man in the Irish Sea between England and Ireland has recently started offering seagull insurance for paying customers.

For a pound – about $1.30 – Hawkins BBQ customers can purchase seagull insurance with their meal, which ensures that a replacement meal will be prepared free of charge if a bird does actually grab them.
According to the food truck spot, the proceeds from the insurance policy will be donated to the Manx Wildlife Trust, a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting nature in the region.

Chef and co-owner Matt Hawkins told Fox News Digital that seagulls are protected in the UK – meaning there are a lot of them there and they have become naturally aggressive.
“We saw the idea in Scotland and introducing ‘insurance’ to our customers on the Isle of Man was a no-brainer,” he said.
“We wanted to make our guests feel good when they enjoy our meals.”
He added: “The public response so far has been fantastic.”
