For the upcoming release of the DMV Foamposites (currently scheduled to be available exclusively at DMV area retailers on August 23rd), Nike has officially partnered with none other than Wale, the renowned music artist and sneaker enthusiast who hails from the DC/Maryland/Virginia area. Considered one of the most well-known “sneakerhead” celebs, Wale regularly provides first looks at upcoming Nike shoes through sample pairs that Nike delivers directly to the rapper.
In the promotional video, Wale portrays the community and neighborhoods of the DMV area, emphasizes the cherry blossom aspect of the design, and has the Foamposites placed all over the city.
In addition to playing a role in the marketing promotion for the shoe, Wale is also hosting a special giveaway designed to reward the most loyal Foamposite fans. To enter, submit a photo of yourself wearing your favorite Foamposites HERE. The giveaway is in partnership with his music label UMG and not through Nike.
Although Wale never announced an official collaboration with Nike, he was used as an unofficial “first look” source. As mentioned, Wale was often spotted wearing upcoming Nike shoes, as he wears a standard size 9. Although the rapper’s shoe taste spanned all categories, his preference for Nike sneakers, Foamposites, and classic Nike basketball shoes was most evident.
And again, the DMV Nike Foamposites are expected to be available exclusively at retailers in the DMV area on August 23rd.
