LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A dead dog was found in a dog crate near downtown Las Vegas over the weekend.
Carlos Herrera, a Paws Patrol Las Vegas volunteer, told News 3 that some travelers drove up on Saturday and left the dog in a crate at the corner of Washington Avenue and A Street.
According to the volunteer, someone notified a nearby homeless advocate, who in turn notified PAWS Patrol Las Vegas.

Herrera responded. He says it took about three hours for animal control to respond.
The City of Las Vegas released the following statement on the case:
This is currently an ongoing investigation by the City of Las Vegas Department of Animal Protection Services (APS).
APS received a call about a dead animal at the corner of Washington and A Streets at 12:16 p.m. on August 17. APS responded to the call and made contact with passersby and animal rights activist Gina Greisen of Nevada Voters 4 Animals.
The investigation has not yet led to a suspect.
This also follows the recent incident involving Reba, the English bulldog, who was left in a taped-up plastic bin next to a garbage container in triple-digit temperatures.
Reba died later after suffering sudden cardiac arrest due to DIC blood clot disease, which she developed as a result of severe heat stroke and shock.
This is a developing story. Check back later for updates.
