LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — According to North Las Vegas police, a cyclist died Friday from her injuries after being hit by an SUV two weeks ago.
On Friday, August 2nd, at approximately 4:05 a.m., NLVPD officers responded to the area of Tropical Parkway and Losee Road after receiving reports of an accident involving a car and a bicyclist.
When officers arrived, they found a 78-year-old cyclist who had been hit by a Chevrolet Trailblazer.
Medical personnel took the woman to the UMC Trauma Center with serious injuries.
According to police, the driver of the Chevrolet was still at the scene of the accident and neither speed nor impairment were considered to be causes of the accident.
According to investigators, a Chevrolet Trailblazer was traveling east on East Tropical Parkway toward Losee Road when it struck the rear of a bicyclist, causing the bicyclist to be thrown onto the hood of the vehicle.
According to police, the cyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
On Friday, August 16, at approximately 12:30 p.m., the North Las Vegas Department of Traffic received information from the Clark County Coroner’s Office that the 78-year-old cyclist had died.
