MINNESOTA – United Way of Northeastern Minnesota is seeking mentors to serve with local elementary students for the upcoming school year through the Lunch Buddies mentoring program. The program matches students in first through fourth grade with selected, trained volunteer mentors who share lunch with them once a week during the school year. Lunch Buddies has improved the self-esteem, attitude, and school attendance of participating students.
Volunteers are needed at the following schools:
• Cherry School
• International Falls Elementary School
• Keewatin Primary School
• Laurentian Elementary School (Virginia)
• Merritt Elementary School (Bergeisen)
• Mesabi East Elementary School (Aurora)
• Northeast Range School (Babbitt)
• North Star Elementary School (Eveleth)
• Parkview Elementary School (Virginia)
• Vaughan-Steffensrud Elementary School (Chisholm)

MEADOWLANDS, Minnesota. – There’s an event coming up soon at Sax-Zim Bog in Duluth. BioBlitz will be held for the 12th time on Saturday, August 24, and will feature new field trips and experts. This educational event allows the public to go into the field with a specialist, record their findings, and learn about them at the same time. All leaders will share information about each field trip, and all of the knowledge will be compiled for a presentation at the end of the day. Registration is now open. WISCONSIN – Marvel movie fans will have the chance to test their knowledge at trivia night, which will take place on Tuesday at 6 p.m. It’s a virtual contest where you can compete with other trivia takers from across Northern Wisconsin and show off your Marvel knowledge. The winner of the contest will get to take home the bragging rights. If you prefer to participate in person, the Superior and Hayward libraries will offer you the opportunity to do so.
