The new Google Pixel 9 Pro XL is a big beast with a big price tag. The supersized version of the Pixel 9 Pro costs a whopping $1,099 plus tax in the US, but that’s not the price of the latest Android phone in every country. In fact, there’s a surprising range of retail prices around the world. If you’re looking to find out where to buy the Pixel 9 Pro XL for the cheapest, you’ve come to the right website.
We looked at the official retail prices of the Pixel 9 Pro XL 128GB in 24 countries, and the results are in the table below. We’ve only included prices for this model in the Pixel 9 range, partly because it keeps things straightforward, and partly because the story is the same for all phones in the range. If the Pixel 9 XL is particularly cheap in one country, the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro are also at the cheap end of the scale. For the same reason, we’ve only used the price of the 128GB model.

In which countries can you buy a Pixel 9 Pro XL cheapest?
The table shows the price of the Pixel 9 Pro XL from each country, converted to US dollars at the exchange rate on the day of publication. We then sorted the prices from cheapest to most expensive.
The comparison is from the perspective of a US resident, so we’ve added a sales tax of approximately 10% to the US price. That’s why the price is listed as $1,210 instead of $1,099. The good news you may know is that you often only have to pay this tax if you live in a particular country, so US tourists don’t have to add this sales tax to the prices in the table when shopping abroad. In fact, some countries calculate taxes into the retail price of phones, so you may even be able to claim back some of the price you paid for the phone when you leave the country.

The cheapest country to buy the Pixel 9 Pro XL in is Canada. If you’re a foreign visitor and can avoid sales tax, the phone will cost the equivalent of $1,094 there. That’s slightly less than the pre-tax price in the US and more than $100 cheaper than elsewhere.
The US is still second on the list when you look at the very approximate percentage increase in taxes, and both Japan and Singapore are around the same level. This reflects that Americans generally fare well with Google as a US company.
India is the most expensive country to buy the Pixel 9 Pro XL, with the phone costing the equivalent of nearly $1,500. The UK isn’t much better, at $1,414. We’ll look at possible reasons for this below.
What if I find a cheaper Pixel 9 Pro XL than this one?

If someone tries to sell you a cheaper Pixel 9 Pro XL while you’re traveling, that should make you suspicious. The phone isn’t even available to buy yet, so it’s very unlikely that any real cash discounts will be available. There are some possible exceptions, such as trade-in offers and the tax savings mentioned above. The carriers will also tout it as cheaper – maybe even free – but these offers come with a number of conditions, such as a commitment to a data plan.
Otherwise, we advise caution if you are considering buying from an unauthorized seller at a discounted price. The phone could be stolen or a counterfeit model with convincing looks but incorrect and inferior software. Use your common sense and stick to authorized sellers whenever possible.
There are seven other countries not on our list where Google is selling the Pixel for the first time. Pricing for these countries is not available from Google, but there’s a chance you can find the Pixel slightly cheaper in one of these countries.
Should I buy the Pixel 9 Pro XL from another country?
You might consider it if you happen to be traveling through Canada, although we think it’s probably not worth it. You might save a few hundred dollars, but that’s not always the whole story. It might be difficult to use the warranty once you’re back on U.S. soil, for example.
There’s certainly no point in traveling just to save on the Pixel 9 Pro XL. Your travel and accommodation costs will quickly dwarf any obvious savings on the phone.
You’re better off looking around for deals in your area. You might not be able to save much yet, but there are some interesting deals on Pixel 9 pre-orders to consider, some of which amount to savings. If you have a little patience, Black Friday is also only a few months away. We’d be very surprised if the new Google phones weren’t discounted by then.
Why is the Pixel 9 Pro XL cheaper in some countries than in others?
C. Scott Brown / Android Authority
To determine the selling price of a product, it is necessary to determine the cost of bringing it to market and the profit that can be made from it. Both factors are specific to the country where the Pixel 9 Pro XL is sold, so it is logical that each country has a different selling price.
Costs vary depending on many factors, such as shipping prices and local labor costs. One of the biggest influencers is import tax, which can be outrageously high. It’s not uncommon for certain countries to impose a 100% import tax on tech products manufactured abroad. It’s easy to see how this can affect the phone’s retail price.
Google also wants to make money, so the profit margin will be carefully calculated. Teams of economists will study the demand for the device and the purchasing power of the local population and then find the optimal retail price to maximize sales.
Google’s business is to make money.
We’ve also converted all the prices in our table above into US dollars to make comparison easier. This is enough to give you an idea of the global fluctuations, but exchange rate fluctuations will change the rankings over time. The fact that the UK is currently near the bottom of the list probably reflects the current weakness of the dollar against the pound.
The cheapest place to buy the Pixel 9 Pro XL may be different in six months if the dollar strengthens against a particular currency, which is why we will update the table regularly.
