Dave Canales takes part in the Carolina Panthers rookie talent show and sings Bob Marley

Nothing else Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales does matters compared to the work his team puts in on the field. In other words, they could be the most inspirational and well-coached team in the league, but if that doesn’t translate into wins (lots more wins), he won’t keep the job for long. That was certainly the case with his predecessor, Frank Reich, who didn’t even last a full season.

That being said, everything we’ve seen this offseason from a team-building perspective looks positive. Canales seems more personable and willing to put himself in his players’ shoes. In this case, quite literally. As a first-year coach, Canales is technically a rookie, so he participated in the team’s rookie talent show and sang a bit of Bob Marley’s “Don’t Worry About a Thing.” Check it out.

It may seem like a small thing, but the willingness to do the same thing he asks of his players is a sign of good leadership.
