A woman’s home surveillance camera footage captures the incredible moment an abused dog ran away and ended up on the doorstep of its new owner.
TikTok user Miranda Ponce (@miranda.nicole1) shared a video of the moment Chloe, an English bulldog, ran down the street and appeared in her front yard, asking for help. Ponce, 22, of Los Angeles, explained that her aunt Patricia was just pulling into the driveway when she saw Chloe standing in the rain.
When this happened in August 2023, Ponce had no idea where the dog came from, but she told Newsweek that because of her cuts and scabs she knew immediately that she came from “a bad place”.

She took Chloe inside to feed her, give her some water and try to bathe her since she was so dirty. But the poor dog was nervous and scared and Ponce was crying.
“As I was bathing her, I put my arm around her to carry her in and she fell to the ground, wincing in fear. It broke my heart. I held her tight and started crying, imagining what she had been through,” Ponce said.
“I wore gloves to bathe her because her skin was all cut up again and I was afraid of scratching or hurting her wounds. After the bath, I slept with her in my bed and I can tell you, she slept very well.”
It wasn’t the first time Ponce had found a stray dog. At first, she hoped to find the owners and return the puppy to them. But when she took Chloe to the vet, she was told that the 5-year-old bulldog had been used repeatedly to breed puppies and she had probably had a litter with each litter.

When Chloe was no longer able to reproduce, she was deemed “worthless” and neighbors witnessed her being thrown out of a car as the owners drove away.
Ponce continued, “According to the vet, they saw a lot of scar tissue during the surgery and they said she had bad C-sections from amateur vets. She was probably thrown away because she was no longer able to reproduce.”

“I assume she was physically abused, given the way she flinched, fell, became cautious and defensive towards people, and the wounds I found her with. I usually make every effort to find the owner, but this time I wasn’t so sure that searching for him was the right thing to do.”
Chloe definitely found the right home when she was waiting outside Ponce’s door and now she is adored by the whole family. She loves to snuggle, wrestle and of course go to bed before 9pm every night.
“Chloe is the most affectionate, loving and gentle soul. She is the first rescue animal I have kept and I can see the appreciation she has compared to my other pets who only know the pampered life,” Ponce said.
“She feels very comfortable and soaks up all the love and compliments. She is also very attached to my Aunt Patricia, who spoils her just as much as I do.”
How did TikTokers react?
After sharing the door camera footage of Chloe’s search for her new home on TikTok, the clip went viral, garnering over 425,700 views and more than 65,500 likes within days. Ponce didn’t expect the video to garner so much attention, but she’s excited to share Chloe’s remarkable story.
Social media users praised Ponce for saving Chloe and giving her the life she truly deserves.
Ponce told Newsweek: “I know she’s been through terrible things, but now she’s safe and protected. Everyone was so nice and called me a hero, but she saved me.
“I want to encourage others to rescue animals because it’s a different kind of love. There are so many dogs in shelters and they need heroes to heal them. It’s the best feeling to see your own rescue blossom.”
In just a few days, the viral TikTok post has amassed over 1,500 comments. One TikTok user wrote, “She picked the right driveway! God bless you!”
Another person responded: “It’s like she knows exactly which house to go to!”
Another comment reads: “I’m so happy Chloe got the world and family she deserves.”
