After a long delay, the first glimpse into the world of Kangana Ranaut’s film Emergency, which explores a chapter of Indian political history, has finally been released. In the film, Kangana plays the role of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The trailer gave a glimpse into the “darkest times of democratic India” and was released on August 14, the eve of Independence Day 2024.

As soon as the trailer was released, there was a mixed feeling on social media about the project. On Reddit, there were some users who praised the film and called it a comeback for the Queen actor, while others felt that the film will also come with some problems.

After scoring a win in the Lok Sabha elections in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, the actress announced the release date of her upcoming film with a poster. The political drama is slated to hit the big screens on September 6, 2024.
Directed by Kangana herself, Emergency boasts a large cast including Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair and the late Satish Kaushik in pivotal roles.
