LAS VEGAS, Nevada – The Las Vegas Raiders are in the third week of 2024 NFL training camp and are preparing to host the Dallas Cowboys in their second preseason game.
The Silver and Black hope to name a starting quarterback after Saturday’s game, with Aidan O’Connell and Gardner Minshew in a neck-and-neck race for the starting quarterback spot.
We spoke to DE Maxx Crosby before practice today and found out everything he said about training camp.

Raiders coach Antonio Pierce spoke from training camp. Below is a partial transcript of his statement.
Q: Do you think you’ll change Gardner Minshew’s starting lineup next week, or will you stick with the same rotation? And how much closer are you to a decision on quarterback?
Coach Pierce: “The goal would be to hopefully make a decision after this game on Saturday. We have to get ready to play football. We have enough film and we’ll have two games here to evaluate both quarterbacks and see how they’re going to play. And we haven’t really made a decision yet on who’s going to start and who’s not. But either way, both will play a quarter.”
Q: After the game, you said you weren’t very happy with the run defense. After watching the film, did you notice what areas you need to improve the most to change that?
Coach Pierce: “Yeah. I mean, it’s just about avoiding blocks. It’s different when you’re in training camp and you’re playing against your own guys. You’re not throwing anybody down, there’s not a lot of brutal turnovers. But we’ve got to get tough again, avoid blocks, second-level defenders – the linebackers, safeties and stars – just have to find the right fits. Not drop back too early. And then we just have to narrow the space. There were too many open lanes where these running backs were coming full speed to the second level and even to our safeties and obviously making big plays.”
