Waterekke Energy has been awarded the contract to build a 1.5 gigawatt offshore wind farm in the German North Sea. Luxcara is acting as asset manager for the project.

The N-9.3 site is located in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of the German North Sea, around 85 kilometers northwest of the island of Heligoland. Geotechnical and environmental investigations have already been completed, so that the project can be connected to the national transmission grid by 2029, according to the company.

“Luxcara’s repeated success in tenders of this kind with a focus on qualitative criteria underlines our ability to structure complex projects,” says Holger Matthiesen, Project Manager at Luxcara.

“This highlights our holistic approach, which on the one hand takes the entire construction supply chain into account and on the other hand considers the subsequent optimal use of electricity from the outset, for example to produce green hydrogen. We are delighted to once again be helping to accelerate the energy transition in Germany.”

Last August, Luxcara announced its successful participation in the German offshore wind auction, where bidder Waterkant Energy was awarded the contract to build an offshore wind farm in area N-6.7, which is also located in the German EEZ.

Both projects will be part of a portfolio managed by Luxcara on behalf of institutional investors.
