Learning to drive can be difficult, but in today’s story, thanks to some malicious indulgence, one learner driver found a way to make it a little more fun.
Let’s see how the driving lesson goes…
When I was a student in driving school many decades ago, my instructor told me: “Pretend the parking lot is full and park the car.”
It was very early in the morning and the parking lot of the shopping center where we practiced parking was empty.
OP really acted like the parking lot was full, to the point where there was no parking left.
I knew the “act like it’s full” part was meant to emphasize the importance of driving slowly and carefully and keeping the car between the lines, but my teenage brain couldn’t resist the obvious MC opportunity.
I drove slowly up and down the streets and around the parking lot for at least five minutes until the instructor finally got nervous and barked, “What are you waiting for?! Park the car!”
Luckily, the driving instructor was not upset when he understood why OP had not parked the car.
“You told me to pretend the parking lot was full.”
I have to give the instructor my utmost credit for embracing the MC humor of the moment as I watched him shake his head as his expression changed from anger to realization to a smiling instruction: “Just park the car.”
Honestly, the student was just following instructions! I’m glad the teacher got the joke.
