Visitors can enjoy a 100-foot pool party, dog racing, a foam party for puppies and a wave machine for dog surfing.

Day of the Dog, North America’s largest dog festival, returns to Main Street in Santa Monica on Saturday, September 7, from noon to 5 p.m. Proceeds from this free event benefit the Just Love Animals Society, a nonprofit organization dedicated to social impact and animal welfare.

The festival is expected to attract over 10,000 visitors and more than 100 exhibitors will showcase the latest dog products and trends, according to a press release from the organizers. Visitors can take part in a variety of dog-themed activities, including a 30-meter pool party, dog racing, a foam party for dogs and a wave machine for dog surfing.

“We are the largest cultural movement honoring today’s modern family,” festival co-producer Leo Powell said in the press release. “With pet ownership increasing by more than 40% since the pandemic, Santa Monica is the perfect location for our festival.”

Highlights include the “Size Does Matter” Dachshund Parade, which will feature special guest judges, as well as interactive activities such as a superhero-themed photo booth and various pop-up photo studios. For those looking to pamper their pets, food vendors will offer dog-friendly options, including a Puppuccino Bar and brunch for dogs.

Dog Day will span two full blocks of Main Street, with streets closed for the event. Public parking is available in Lot 5 on Santa Monica Beach.
