LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The second Las Vegas Grand Prix is just three months away, and for one local F1 fan who thought he might never see a race, that dream is about to come true.
As part of a giveaway, the Las Vegas Grand Prix would like to honor an extraordinary Las Vegas resident by giving him two tickets to this year’s race.
And that’s exactly what they found in Roger Burns, a die-hard F1 fan and employee at Opportunity Village.
“I’m really excited because even though F1 tickets are expensive, I’ve been trying hard to save money,” said Burns.
Roger has worked at Opportunity Village, a local nonprofit that helps people with disabilities, for 10 years.
When Bob Brown, CEO of Opportunity Village, heard about the giveaway, he automatically thought of Roger.
“This is really special for us because Roger is not only an exemplary employee, but he has also been promoted a few times now,” Brown said. “He really does what we expect from the people at Opportunity Village.”
Last year we saw one of the best races of the season, with Max Verstappen as the winner.
Verstappen happens to be Roger’s favourite driver, so he is excited to watch him attempt to make it two wins in a row, only this time in person.
“With Max winning last year … I think he can do it again. If he just doesn’t get passed,” Burns said.
The race week for the second Grand Prix of Las Vegas begins on November 21st, with race day scheduled for November 23rd.
